CLARITY
Watercolour paintings by amateur artists from the Rapla County
17-31.05.2022
Clarity” finds purity and comprehensibility as equivalents in the explanatory dictionary. Of compound words, the Estonian language knows clarity of thought, clarity of content, clarity of form and clarity of spirit. In the orchestra of words, the participants of the exhibition also hear “Brightness” and “Light”.
At the watercolour exhibition by amateur artists from Rapla County, air, water and colour meet in the works and form different layers, shapes and meanings. In the case of watercolour painting, the artist does not know exactly what the end result will be. He gives the work a direction and paper and water do a lot of things for him and independently of his will. This kind of collaboration makes the watercolourist’s creative process exciting, special and unique.
Creating with watercolours, its beauty and charm are characterised by clarity and transparency. Clarity is being undisturbed by anything. Often monochrome. For the sake of clarity, it should be said that achieving clarity on watercolour paper is not an easy undertaking. Art is born when its creator, time and space meet. The artist gives time and space to his idea. And then a lot of things will be revealed. In the watercolour paintings presented at the exhibition, we find familiar and previously unknown worlds. Authors’ Inner Journeys. Light and shadow. Longing. Undisturbed. Tenderness. Nature and hope. Brightness and clarity.
