A SORROWFUL WOMAN, A JOYFUL MAN – WHY SO, ALL OF A SUDDEN. RAIT ROSIN

Rait Rosin plakat The exhibition conveys stories of women and men, and their attitudes toward each other. Different ideas of gender roles blend with notions of the arbitrariness of said roles. Within-gender variability is the reason why finding one’s place in society is both exciting and difficult. The author sees existential questions as a key to the process of individualisation. People are presumed to be equal, yet we are all unique. Meeting the expectations of society, adapting to rules of cohabitation, is a journey of self-determination. Individual traits may become a basis for self-expression.

Rait Rosin delves into philosophical topics such as experiences of corporeality through artistic means of expression and through a prism of pragmatist aesthetics. His main media are painting and performance art. He is currently in the middle of his doctoral studies at the Estonian Academy of Art.
