LOGO – from Rubber Glue to AI
Opening Sept 22 at 6pm.
Ado Tuuga (b.1953) is an accomplished graphic designer who’s been working in the field since the 1990s. In this exhibition, he presents his extensive collection of logo design, spanning decades, reflecting signs of the times – changing tools of the trade, changing fashions.
Educated as an architect, Tuuga started his career in the restoration of estate buildings, followed by a new, self-studied career in graphic design. As business was booming in newly independent Estonia, demand for visual identity was high. Tuuga also won the prestigious 2nd prize at the competition to design the Estonian currency, and went on to found his own graphic design and print studio Adograaf in 1994. The Rapla-based studio continues to operate , managed by the author’s sons.
This exhibition celebrates Tuuga’s 70th birthday along with his 30-year-long journey in his profession. The author sees the logo as a work of art, telling the story of a business, molding its identity, and requiring creativity, passion, philosophy, spirituality, and an eye for beauty, to design.
Open 23.09.-08.10.2023 Tue – Sun 15.00 – 18.00.

Metempsychosis
Metempsychosis
Interactive installation
Mar 11, 2023 at 12.00
On Saturday, March 11 at 12:00, you are welcome to experience and see!
The interactive installation Metempsychosis takes us to the world of visual language, which reflects health as the original form of matter, but also treats it as an abstract form. Metempsychosis compares the norm and culture in a figurative way. Metempsychosis is the movement of time, when a movement has occurred, which has a result. Social metempsychosis as a fragmented system that lacks regular symmetry and form, but has interactions. Social changes are those that put norms and culture in a relationship where comparison is the context of interpretation and there are several solutions. Metempsychosis ends when it is done – when the change is over.
Six is a sound and light artist, a contemporary sculptor, but also an interdisciplinary artist. Her works are mostly contemporary art with a cultural/social context, where the concept goes beyond art history to some extent and remains to describe the meaning of the image, philosophising with the work as a cultural phenomenon in the field of contemporary art. Six structures the format and place of the exhibition according to the chosen themes when making art; finds technical solutions and prefers to use recycled materials for this. Six finds that in the case of works of art, it is the transience of installation that makes the exhibitions attractive for documentation. Her works may contain linguistic humour in visual culture. Six leaves the audience free rein, “It’s all a matter of interpretation!”
Six (identity Sigrit Lõhmus, born in Tartu on 24.01.1990) is an Estonian contemporary artist-producer whose creative work extends to both deep art and cultural-entertainment environments. Six is location-free and Estonia is more of a symbol of visual and mental images in Estonian. Six is a sound and light artist, a contemporary sculptor, but also an interdisciplinary. She has produced various cultural events, participated in group exhibitions and experimental film festivals, and exhibited solo exhibitions. In 2019, she directed her first group performance based on the principle of curated dance, the documentation of which has been screened in more than three countries.
Six has studied for 8 years at the Ülenurme Music School, which was preceded by 5 years of primary school with a focus on music. Her first instruments were voice, flute and synthesiser. At the Ülenurme Music School, her main instrument was the accordion, but she also studied guitar and piano. In 2009, Sigrit (Six) graduated from the Descartes Lyceum with a degree in social studies. Since 2012, Six has been living and doing creative work in Tallinn. She started her bachelor’s studies in 2012 at Tallinn University in art therapies, but graduated in 2017 with a degree in sculpture and installation at the Estonian Academy of Arts. In 2017/18, Six was the instructor and facilitator of the school’s show project Kreisimood in Rakvere. She has also completed a master’s degree in cultural management at the University of Tartu in 2018–2020

DAWNING
Feb. 3-26, 2023
Tue-Sun 15.00-18.00
Regarding the exhibition, the artists say that “We find inner security by staying in a new deep and reflective world of coloured glass created by ourselves. There is peace here and at the same time a bit of an exciting feeling of anxiety that makes us feel joy deep down, but also find new challenges. The viewer of the exhibition will experience new forms and patterns, the harmony of light and shadow, the depth of looking into the glass, and the mischievous glow of the shiny glass surface.”
Eili Soon (b. 1983) has graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts with a bachelor’s degree in glass art and a master’s degree in art and art history. Since 2010, she has been working in the glass and ceramics studio of Olustvere Manor. Eili Soon is one of the few glass artists in Estonia who has more than 13 years of experience in glassblowing.
Malle Karik-Hallimäe (b. 1959) graduated from the then Estonian State Art Institute (ERKI) in 1985 with a degree in glass art and has been working as a freelance glass artist ever since. She has participated in exhibitions since 1988. Her work includes everyday objects as well as small-scale decorative forms and sculptures. To prepare the works, he uses heat and cold treatment techniques. Heat treatment works have been completed in recent years Olustvere Glass Workshop.

Artist talk at the exhibition “It’s Lonely in the Metaverse’”
Artists Egle Ehtjen, Kelli Gedvil, Kristen Rästas and Sten Saarits speak about virtual worlds, digital art and the metaverse, moderated by Aivar Tõnso.
It’s Lonely in the Metaverse
On Friday, 11th of November at 6pm a group exhibition by Egle Ehtjen, Kelli Gedvil, Kristen Rästas and Sten Saarits ‘It’s Lonely in the Metaverse’ will be opened at Rapla County Centre for Contemporary Art.
The exhibition remains open until 11th of December, Tue–Sun 3–6pm. A bus will go to the exhibition’s opening from Tallinn at 17:15 and will drive back to Tallinn at 21:00. Register for the bus by writing to kelli [dot] gedvil [at] artun [dot] ee
Four artists will create an audiovisual participatory exhibition in the hall of the Rapla County Centre for Contemporary Art, exploring the soul of the ‘metaverse’, a recently popular medium that uses various spatial and virtual reality technologies. Platforms for virtual worlds are a hot topic both in the crypto world and, increasingly, in the ‘normal world’, through ‘fear-of-missing-out’ advertising campaigns promising new social, investment and entertainment environments on the internet. Behind the exaggerated promises of the future, however, today’s meta-worlds besides their edgy commercial undertones are lonely, not that interactive, and full of digital gambling and collective tokens. ‘It’s Lonely in the Metaverse’ is the interpretation by the four artists of the significant contrast between the advertising hurricane and the virtual landscapes that fall into its shadow.
Egle Ehtjen (b. 1990) is an artist who often combines traditional media such as ink and watercolour with digital manipulation and animation. Previously more concerned with characters and narratives, she has recently been leaning towards abstraction, finding inspiration in nature, the esoteric twilight and things that are hard to put into words.
Kelli Gedvil (b. 1994 Viljandi) is an artist who works mainly in installation, video and web-based medium. Her latest exhibitions “4EVER” and “Purifying Your Skin” have explored the behavioral patterns of self-presentation in various virtual communities and how they affect the physical body with emphasising the involvement of the viewer through interactiveness.
Kristen Rästas (b. 1992) is an interdisciplinary artist whose work incorporates video, conceptualism, virtual reality, and mixed media sculpture. His recent projects get inspired by classical landscapes, which the artist attempts to represent through digital technologies, creating artificial natural environments that explore the connections between contemporary human alienation and possible realities reflecting escapism.
Sten Saarits (b 1987) is an interdisciplinary artist who works mainly with time basedmedia. Saarits’ installation art practice, which emphasizes repetitions of themes and situations, is characterized by a drive to turn mental spaces into material landscapes to depict the states of mind, typical for the daily endeavors in a modern society, in a new form. His practice revolves around giving focus to hidden, unnoticeable or non-perceivable agencies within our environment.
